Oyo State Solid Waste Management Authority (OYOWMA) formerly known as Ibadan Solid Waste Management Authority came into existence with Edict No. 10 of 16th May, 1997. The Authority became an Agency in the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources (now Ministry of Environment and Habitat) through Executive Council conclusion at the Executive Council meeting of 5th June, 2002. Thereafter, the nomenclature of the Authority changed to the Oyo State Solid Waste Management Authority after the enactment of the Oyo State Solid Waste Management Authority Law 2004” by the Oyo State House of Assembly in 2008. The Authority has its headquarters at Agodi Gate, Ibadan while its five (5) zonal agencies that were created at the inception in the Year 2012 are at Ibadan 1, Ibadan 11, Oyo, Ogbomoso, Ibarapa, Oke-Ogun 1 (Iseyin) and Oke-Ogun 11 (Saki).
